X Games Minneapolis 2017
DAY 1 :
VERT SKATEBOARDING MEN'S FINALS
Day 1 kicked off with X GAMES Pro Vert right outside of the US Bank Stadium for everyone to watch. Japan’s own Moto Shibata earns the gold and makes history being the only Japanese X Games gold medalist. Moto had a killer line ending with his signature trick “the Kamikaze”. Creature rider Jimmy Wilkins with a unique bag of tricks a layer back style earned Silver & Mitchie Brusco Bronze.
DAY 2 :
WOMEN'S STREET FINALS
Day 2 in Minneapolis Women’s Street finals went off! Japan’s own 15 year Aori Nishimura came out swinging on her first ever X Games run landing her the top spot and her first ever X Games gold medal. Samarria Brevard threw down a great line but came up short on the final 360 flip down the 8 stair. This didn’t stop her for doing it for the Minneapolis crowd and walking away with her first ever silver medal. Taking home the bronze leaves Leticia Bufoni the most decorated Women in X Games skateboarding adding to her collection.
SKATEBOARD BIG AIR FINALS
Elliot Sloan takes home the gold medal in X Games Minneapolis 2017 Skateboard Big Air sticking a indy 900 in his X Games run. Tom Schaar grabs the silver and Clay Kreiner bronze! After 26 X Games appearances, Bob Burnquist, who competed in the very first X Games in 1995 and hasn’t missed a Summer X event since, announced during the Skateboard Big Air broadcast that he will be retiring from X Games competition.
SKATEBOARD STREET AMATEURS FINALS
X Games 2017 Am Street contest went down on Saturday and it was nothing short to being just as heavy as the pros. Jagger Eaton pre qualified through X Games came out hot with perfect first run landing his score in the 90s as well as earning the his first ever Gold medal. Zach Saraceno threw down some heavy tricks including a nollie backside flip down the 8 stair grabbing the silver. Alex Midler qualified third on the Podium Skate App making it to the Minneapolis finals and walks away with a third place finish in the contest.
DAY 3 :
SKATEBOARD PARK AMATEURS FINALS
X Games Am Park kicked off on Sunday the final day of X and was a great way to start the day! Podium Skate qualifier Jagger Eaton took home his second gold medal of the weekend with a perfect first run. Keegan Palmer coming off from a big win at Dew Tour Long Beach earns the silver and Tate Carew the first alt wins the bronze.
PRO MEN'S SKATEBOARD STREET FINALS
The 2017 X Games gold medalist is Kelvin Hoefler! Kelvin put some seriously heavy technical trick in his run including a kick flip front blunt down the 8 rail as well as a cab back tail and then ending his run with a massive front side flip over the Viking ship. Home town hero Alec Majerus had the crowd at its loudest laying it down his first run grabbing the silver. Nyjah Houston gets the bronze with a solid run on his last attempt pumping Chaz Ortiz into fourth place.
SKATEBOARD PARK WOMENS FINALS
Women’s skateboard park contest was at all all time high of excitement. New records were broken as well as brand new faces on the podium. Thirteen year old Brighton Zeuner claims the gold medal and officially becomes the youngest athlete to earn a gold medal in X Games. Jordyn Barratt steps up her previous bronze medal from last year and takes home the silver. Australia’s own Poppy Olsen earns her first ever X Games medal sitting third on the podium.
SKATEBOARD PARK MEN'S FINALS
The final skateboarding event that took place at this years X Games was the pro men's park contest. With a stacked line up and all the dudes killing it in practice this one was really up for grabs. In the end Plan B rider Alex Sorgente earned his first gold medal with a heavy line. Taking home the silver is no stranger to the podium Tom Schaar and the silver Cory Juneau.
